Mikeysline is Highgate’s chosen charity. Based in Inverness, it provides mental health and suicide prevention support to people across the Highlands, Moray, and the islands. We back that work with direct donations, and this page explains why.
People First is one of our core values, and we work hard to make Highgate a place where talking about mental health is normal. Supporting that outside our own walls was the obvious next step.
Mikeysline exists so that nobody has to face a mental health crisis alone. It started because two families in the Highlands knew what it costs when someone feels they have nowhere to turn.
Mikeysline was founded in 2015 after two young men from the Inverness area died within 48 hours of each other. What began as a volunteer-run text line for young people has grown into a charity supporting people of all ages, 365 days a year.
Support runs through whichever channel someone is comfortable with. The textline, webchat, WhatsApp, and Messenger services are open every evening. One-to-one appointments happen face to face, by phone, or online. The Hive on the Road takes confidential support out to rural communities that would otherwise have none nearby.
Our support takes the form of direct donations. We’ve donated £2,902.48 since 2023.
Mikeysline spends its money close to the people it serves: trained listeners on the evening textline, counsellors for one-to-one appointments, and the cost of keeping the Hive on the Road moving. A donation here keeps a conversation available on the night someone needs it.

Mikeysline’s textline, webchat, WhatsApp, and Messenger services are open Sunday to Thursday, 6pm to 10pm, and overnight on Friday and Saturday, 7pm to 7am. Start a conversation at on the Mikeysline website.
